Vegan Silk Vs. Commercial Silk - What's the difference?

Vegan Silk Vs. Commercial Silk - What's the difference?

When one has a tactile interaction with our Vegan Silk they ask with a note of pleasant surprise in their voice - This is Silk?  It doesn't feel "Silky"?

Correct!  And, why does our Vegan Silk not feel Silky?  When the Silkworms transform in to moths they leave the cocoons by cutting a hole.  Since the yarn filament gets broken, the fabric woven has a texture resembling cotton mixed with wool.

Here's a visual representation of the happy life of a Peace silk yielding silkworm.

In commercial Silk, the cocoons are dropped in to boiling with living silkworms inside them.  Once the cocoons are unspun, the Silk yarn is obtained, which, is an unbroken filament.  That's what lends the silky and lustrous texture to the fabric.

When the Vegan/Peace Silk is woven with cotton yarn, it produces a beautiful and soft hand that we love in our scarves.

The pure Vegan Silk scarves have a softer texture and just a little bit of shine.  Since all our Vegan Silk products are dyed using natural dyes, they are great for the skin and for the environment.

Who says eco-fashion can't be luxurious?
